INCLUDES 1 WOOD BLANK (several blanks are shown to indicate the range of color/grain to expect). Palm is the only family in the monocot order. This is basically a bundle of small straws that are fibrous. Black Palm is durable and hard with the black fibers densely packed together and surrounded by lighter colored less dense material. The end grain shows the black bundles crowded together like the end of a steel cable. There are no growth rings visible in Palm wood. CA glue is a great aid to help in finishing this wood. Our stock is from Ecuador. This is the densest of all palm species in the world, making it the easiest of all the palm species to work with. It is dried and generally surfaced on four sides. Unique color patterns and contrasting black with rich golden brown colors make this very unique. It can be challenging to work with but amazing results are possible! Skill level: Intermediate
