Ipe Turning Square (12″ x 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″)
INCLUDES 1 WOOD BLANK (several blanks are shown to indicate the range of color/grain to expect). Ipe wood, Tabebuia avellanedae is also called Pau D’arco, Brazilian Ironwood, and Iron Bark. It is a lustrous brown color that ages to dark brown with a greenish tinge. The appearance is similar to Greenheart from Suriname, but the grain is finer and denser. Averaging 70 pounds per square foot, this is a very durable hardwood that takes a smooth, high polish. This wood is kiln dried and has some rough spots on edges & faces that will easily turn away. All edges are slightly rounded. A few minor surface checks may be present. Size may vary +/- 1/8″. The size of this turning square can range from 1-3/8″ – 1-1/2″.
